Kobo join the print-on-demand game — but should you play?

I’m tempted to look into this. With Kindle switching over to putting our their own paperbacks WITHOUT the ability to sell extra copies to authors I really need to find a better source.

I have also looked at Ingram.

Is CS going away? As an indie author I pretty much accept my books are never going to be distributed to bookstores except through special orders or consignment, and I’m fine with that. The bookstore distribution system strikes me as wildly inefficient and not something that’s likely to catch fire for a new author without a major investment by the publisher. And even then, it’s iffy.

    • So far, it’s only a rumor. Nothing substantiated – but ever since Kindle started offering their alternative paperback system to certain authors people have begun to talk. I figure we won’t know until Kindle finally makes up its mind.
